My experiences at Middlebranch Veterinary have always been the best! Dr. Pfeifer and her staff are very attentive, sympathetic and professional. Every time that I've called with an emergency situation, they have seen me and my pet immediately. Dr. Pfeifer has always personally followed up with me when I've had questions. She and her staff find the time to make me and my pets feel special and to ensure that we receive the best of care.

Who sends a dog that is already at the hospital in critical condition somewhere else because their shift is over? Dr. Pfeiffer does at Middle branch animal hospital. I told her that I could not afford the added expense of an ER and she just said Sorry! I brought my dog home and the next morning called the office and asked the secretary if there were alternative treatments or if surgery was my only option. I had just lost my job and I am a single mom and don’t have a lot of money. She said she would call me back with an estimate on the surgery and info on a possible payment plan. The whole day went by with no phone call at all. I called again the following morning only to get a nasty attitude from the girl at the desk when I asked why no one returned my call. Apparently Dr. Pfeiffer was out the day before so she couldn’t write up an estimate until today. I said this is a critically ill dog according to Dr. Pfeiffer and how can you wait two days and not even call me back? She promised that Dr. Pfeiffer was going to do the estimate and someone will call me back today. That was at 8.30 am this morning. It is now 2.30 pm and still, no call. Gratefully another Vet took my dog and said that she was critically ill. He was very confused on why she did what she did and why she delayed necessary emergency surgery. I have brought my other dogs to her in the past four years; I do not owe them any money and have always paid my bills in full at the time of visit. For her to treat me like some stranger and to leave my sick dog hanging is reprehensible! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL TO ANYONE WHO HAS A PET IN PUTNAM COUNTY! They only care about money and not your pet. Also, don’t interfere with their time off or their lunch breaks because they will be very nasty to you and let your animal die first before giving it the care it needs. Selfish people work there!

To the previous reviewer. Take some responsibility as a pet owner. Was this emergency procedure one which could have been avoided if you had taken more appropriate care of your pet? For example, if you spay your dog when recommended, you avoid the need for an EMERGENCY spay down the road. Also, how long was your dog ill before you decided to seek care? Did you call ahead for an appointment? If you had a critically ill child, would you rush her into a pediatricians office and expect them to perform absolutely whatever was necessary under any circumstances solely because you didn't want to go to the ER because its more expensive?
Almost any veterinarian would be absolutely willing to drop what they were doing if someone rushed in with their dog who just got hit by a car or some such emergency. They would be prepared to do what was necessary to save the patient and help out the owners. But that is an entirely different situation than what is often seen: one where an owner has let their pet get sicker and sicker until it reaches a critically ill state, then rushes in demanding immediate and unreasonable care at the clinics expense. So, is that what you did? You wanted emergency and critical level care performed, but you couldn't afford it, so you expected them to do it for you at their cost, while other paying clients were turned away because they were busy with you? That hardly seems like a justifiable reason to smear your uninformed, misguided review all over the Internet.
