We first saw Dr. Barr when we were told by our vet in Gulf Shores, AL that our 16 year old cat needed to be put down. They were so cold towards us about it. My Best Feline Friend (BFF) had been there since I was in college, before my kids who were 11 & 13 yro now... she was a part of my soul and my family. We got them to give us fluids and pain management for her to have one last night with her and during that time we found Waylon from Pet Angel in Mobile and he suggested taking her to Dr. Barr. They dimmed the lights, let us have a very intimate, personal, and very respectful way of helping our sweet Lily pass on to be free from her pain from kidney failure. I cannot possibly find words to express how much Dr. Barr did for my family in that horrible moment of losing a piece of our family. We adopted a sweet Miniature Australian Shepard that we were so delighted to take back to Dr. Barr for his next booster shots and Dr. Barr lit up with a huge grin when he saw us on such better terms! We will continue to drive the hour to take our animals to Dr. Barr because we were never just another patient or a number... our fur babies are treated like the siblings of my children and for that we will be forever grateful!

We took a very badly behaved parrot to Dr. Barr on an emergency visit. Dr. Barr and his staff were truly wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Barr. Knowledgeable, kind, reasonable fee. They even saw us hours before our appointment, because we were so panicky. They were so gracious about us barging in. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could.

I have 8 conures (used to have 10) and Dr. Barr is awesome with all of them. Dna sexing, nails trimmed, beak buffed out, he does it all. He even stayed almost 2 hours past closing on a Friday for me to get through heavy rush hour traffic during an emergency when my brand new little jenday conure was attacked by one of my sun conures and almost half of her bottom beak was ripped off and hanging. He was able to save the beak and gave her pain meds and 2 follow up visits later gave her a clean bill of health. Now her beak is almost back to 100% and you'd never know she was attacked. Love this avian vet.

Dr. Barr is an outstanding vet. Several years ago he moved to Theodore Vet Hospital. The distance to drive is a little far but to know I receive good care for my animals means the world.
