I had an extraction of an extremely infected tooth. I had been on antibiotics for 6 days prior. It felt as though the dentist was going to break me jaw with the hammering he was doing on my tooth. The first part of tooth that broke off I almost choked on. Once the tooth was finally removed the dentist didn't rinse my mouth and make sure he got all the others out. He sat his tools on the tray and said "ok I'm done". He then left the room. Then his nurse roughly shoved gauze in my mouth and gave me an Rx for pain meds and said my aftercare was on a paper on the ziplock with extra gauze. When I got home and removed the gzuze, there was shards of broken tooth that was between the gzuze and socket. There were also shards under my tongue and between my gums and cheek. The dentist or nurse didn't rinse or suction my mouth after the extraction. This type of service is completely unacceptable. I sit here 3 days post op having body aches, running a fever and have a throbbing mouth. I called the after hrs dentist and was told to wait one more day to see how I feel.
Most of the time, they don't call me back for quite a while, but they've called me back quickly once or twice. They were very qualified and knowledgeable. I could tell that they've been doing their job well for quite a while. They've never used foul language, which has bothered me at some of the other places I've been too. They always make an extra effort to be polite and courteous. I appreciated that they were still concerned about my health even after I left the office. They followed up with me after my appointment and everything. They've never dismissed any of my concerns as unimportant, and take every concern of mine very seriously.
