About
Becoming a surgeon seemed to be the best way to meld my interests both in technical work with my hands and developing meaningful relationships with others. As an endocrine surgeon, I diagnose and treat both benign and malignant conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Within the realm of endocrine disease, there are often several appropriate treatment options that exist depending on the specific situation. My goal for our initial visit is for you to clearly understand the disease process and what options are available to you. I understand that each patient is unique, and there is not a “one size fits all” solution to endocrine-related problems. If we ultimately decide together that surgery is the best option for you, I offer minimally invasive approaches, and a majority of my patients leave the hospital the day of surgery. I also offer radiofrequency ablation for benign, symptomatic thyroid nodules and toxic thyroid nodules.
My favorite thing about practicing endocrine surgery at UNC Health Rex is the ability to streamline care. During your initial visit, if needed, we have the ability to perform neck ultrasound and thyroid biopsy on the same day. This greatly improves the patient's experience and is the most efficient pathway towards definitive treatment.

My path towards medicine is slightly untraditional. Growing up, I was passionate about classical music and wanted to become a concert pianist. I initially studied piano performance at the North Carolina School of the Arts where I learned the value of complete dedication towards a worthy pursuit.
