A native of Los Angeles, he grew up in the San Gabriel Valley area and attended San Gabriel High School. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and cell biology. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
