I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter and in the adoption fee was a spay/neuter so my father and I scheduled the spay/neuter for January 2. My father took her for her spay (her name is Ila) and AFTER they had already performed the surgery they called him to inform him that she was not only pregnant but was almost full term! They KILLED a litter of puppies AND put my dog's life in danger instead of picking up the phone and calling us to let us make a decision. They claim it was their "protocol" and that the shelter wouldn't pay for diagnostic tests, but if they had called US the OWNERS of the dog we would NEVER have gone through with the spay. It could have waited a few months especially since there wasn't a chance she could get pregnant again at our home. On top of MURDERING our puppies they then proceeded to charge us for a rabies shot and worm medicine! But not any pain medicine for Ila. I will NEVER take any animal back there and I am going to spread the word about their IMMORAL and MURDEROUS protocol!

On Sept. 11, 2011 (which was a Sunday) my Jack Russell Terrier, Idgee, got very sick from eating a beef bone the day before. I called the emergency number and the lady answering the phone was very helpful. She told me the vet on call would call me shortly and she was accurate. Dr. Thompson called within 5 minutes to assess the problem with Idgee. He said to bring her to Crossville and he would examine her. I am so impressed with his professional manner but also his kindness with my sick dog and the distraut owner. The staff kept me imformed of her condition and the plan of care. I brought her home on Tuesday Sept. 13th and because of their prompt care avoided surgery. Then when I paid the bill I was so surprised because it was oh so reasonable for the service they provided. Thank you Dr. Thompson and all the staff at Upper Cumberland.
