I took my beloved cat who was terminally ill to Riverside Animal Hospital to be euthanized. I was told that an injection would be given to gently anesthetize him, and then a second injection would stop his heart. The veterinarian left the room with her assistant on her heels as soon as the first injection was administered. My cat was fully conscious when, with a look of terror, he went into violent convulsions and retching. It left him lifeless. I felt betrayed and that I had betrayed my beloved pet. I told the vet what had happened when she came back ten minutes later, and she just brushed it off with some excuse. Once I had a pet put down at the Lower Columbia Veterinary Clinic and that experience was peaceful and humane. This time it was cruel and stupid. I also resented the intrusion and inappropriate comment of the assistant. I would not recommend this inept excuse for veterinary care to anyone.
