It was really easy for me to get an appointment with them. I didn’t have to wait long. They were so knowledgeable, and I felt very safe in their care. They've always been on time for my appointments. They've never kept me waiting. They made sure that their qualifications were obvious. I was confident that I was under the care of a professional. Whenever I call and leave a message, they always get back to me within a couple of days. I never have to wait long. Dr. Balsama who oversees the practice of the psychologists, therapists and doctors is extremely dedicated to patient care and well being. The advantage of going to Southcoast is that there is a psychiatrist onboard to prescribe meds as needed as well as therapists for counselling.

This ended up in a nightmare. I moved from NY and was trying to adjust to a change. i had 2 appts there. I was left waiting both times. Both times i left work, the second appointment pulled me out of work and left me waiting over 45 minutes. the last appointment, i was traveling out of state and called over 30 hours in advance to cancel because i was afraid i would be late and didnt want to put someone else through having to wait. i called and canceled and was very brief (was around company people). about 45 minutes later i was at the airport and the woman from there called that if i wanted to come back there again i would have to pay $220. i asked if i can still come to my appointment, she said no. So did they fill up my appt time? Yes? so why charge me? No? then i'll come. Her reply "it was the way you spoke to Dr. Balsma". I asked, "is this even legal"? She said, "well dr. balsama is the owner of this practice and that is his choice".... I cannot begin to tell you how i apologized to these people for being brief and curt. I was up for two nights in a row. they didnt get back to me or anything. i actually had thought the guy was a bit nice and humane when i met him... what a mess, the way they spoke to me... i can't believe this happened in a medical/psychiatric setting.... DONT ever go there. Dr. Balsama is an abusive power hungry, money hungry doctor. I felt like a dog, and still do. I'd rather go to someone else who might actually appreciate my loyalty and business. And at least i'd get proper medical attention. Shame on him.
