My 68 year old mother showed signs of a stroke so we took her to the nearest hospital which was Fort Washington Medical Center. The ER doctors and nurses treated her with such care. They were patient and very kind. The moment they admitted her for observation it was downhill.

As a result of the stroke her ability to speak fluently was impaired. The admitting nurse kept asking her to name the items she was claiming to bring upstairs. She got frustrated with my mom when she could not produce an answer fast enough. Sign number one our stay would be miserable. When we got to her room there was another patient sharing the room and my mother's bed was by the door. The room was not clean, the bathroom smelled funny, and the hallways were loud. I don't know what was worse the fact that the supply closet was in her room so every nurse on that floor had been in her room gathering supplies, or the fact that when nurses enter they would yell across the room to the other patient or engage in unprofessional conversation with the patients guest. After the other patient left her soiled linens sat for hours while nurse after nurse came in and asked if someone changed them. Not sure why they asked. The crumpled blankets were obvious from the doorway.

The nurse assigned to her was by far the worst I have ever met. She began asking my mother questions about herself and when my mom could not produce the answers she informed me that her medical opinion was that my mom was hard of hearing and had memory loss. Not once did she refer to the information provided by the ER. She handed my mother papers to read and sign without completing standard stroke assessments that would confirmed reading was a challenge.

Thanks to family and GW hospital we were able to get her transferred and under excellent care. I would not recommend Ft Washington Medical Center to my worst enemy.

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone I care about. I would not let my dog come here. Some of the staff is rude. The hospital is not clean or sanitary especially during flu season. Dr. Sabet was rude and disrespectful he should be fired. Because if not someone will put there hands on him. Ghetto hospital it's terrible they have not made any efforts to improve this hospital they should be shut down .
