I was treated at this clinic by Dr Doyle (and not by Dr Anderson, who as I understand it medically is a very good doctor). I came in to see Dr Doyle because I needed an ear cleaning that was difficult to do at home. After two visits, both of which lasted no more than five to seven minutes time of actually seeing Dr Doyle (who is a very nice doctor and seems to be a gentle spirit), my insurance was billed $366 for each of the two visits. That is more than $700 for two five minute ear cleaning sessions! Even more spectacular was that almost $500 of this fantasy land billing was for initially entering me as patient in their system. (which is hilarious in a sad way, since I am the one who filled out all the paperwork myself). The actual portion I had to pay after insurance adjusted the bill was around $100 for the two visits. If that does not strike the readers of this review as absolute highway robbery, then I am not sure what might be added. I am glad I did not pick up a napkin on the way out or a breath mint or that would have likely added another enormous charge to the bill.
Even more amazing is that when I called to ask about the outrageous charges, I was told, "This is how the insurance system works and this is what we are allowed to bill for this type of procedure. Therefore, while it may seem high to you, it is allowed and normal. And we see no problem with this." The undertone of the conversation was that as long as no one notices these exceptionally high charges, then we can get away with it. No inclusion for human morality was made.
While I enjoyed meeting Dr Doyle and have heard good things about Dr Anderson, I cannot say the same for the staff. The office secretaries and the billing department (yes, this medical office has their own billing department made up of at least two full time members or more) were mildly discourteous to incredibly rude. Therefore, I come to the conclusion that this is an office staffed quite probably by good doctors but employing a very harsh system of fees. (which in some sense, the doctors themselves are well aware of and must tacitly approve of) If you visit this office, it seems quite probable that no matter how small or insignificant the service rendered, you medical bills from them will quite likely continue for months. Good doctors but horrible fees and bad office staff made what could have been a mutually proficuous office visit turn into a mess of charges and fees I am still receiving months later. Despite the good physicians, avoid this office at all costs (to your wallet).
