I saw Dr Balfour 25 yrs ago & after seeing 10 other ENT's, he was the ONLY one who listened to me. He took a culture of the infections that was happening in my ears & found 3 different problems, with his treatment I have been free of infections for 20 yrs, that's why I need to see him again. I'll have to drive over a 100 miles to do it but he's the only one who listens. I have been to other ENT's & they act like I don't know what I'm talking about or they say they know what's going on in my ears even without checking.

My wife went to Lodi Memorial Emergency becuase her throat was closing up, and she was having a hard time breathing. She had a severe toncil infection that requried the "ON-CALL" EAR NOSE AND THROAT SPECIALIST TO BE CALLED IN for a consultation. They called Morris Balfour.

This guy never bothered to get into a doctors coat. He looked descheveled. His first interaction with us was rolling his eyes and saying my wife was on medi-cal and medicare. When he was corrected that we were on private insurance, he only got ruder.

He then told us he was going to do a procedure that was required a local anthestic. I then interrupted him, and told him that he can not use that anthestic, becuase my wife will stop breathing (and will require an epi pen). He then literally got angry that he had to perform an emergency toncillectomy, becuase my wife was allergic to a local anthestic. What kind of jerk makes his patient feel like the surgry they need is putting them out. We have excellent insurance, and we always pay our bills.

I then continued to be rude and show zero patience with my wife, and was stern in his demands of her. He then gruffly stated that she needed to open her mouth (when she physcially could not due to excrutiating pain), and even though she is in pain she has no choice.

Eventually, he forced himself to do his job, and order the emergency surgery, he made it seem like we were forcing him to do an unnecessary sprocedure against his will. I bit my tongue, and I figured this was just another Practicing physician who has ZERO bedside manner, and that did not belong in the medical community.

My wife was taken into surgery, and the doctor told us he would meet us afterward in the surgery waiting room. Immediately upon entering the waiting room, my 11 year old daughter and i were told that we had to leave since my daughter was not 16 years old. We were told to come back in an hour, and that they would have the doctor call me if they finished before we came back to see my wife to her room.

We never got a call from anyone. We met my wife in recovery, and then we were promptly kicked out of Lodi Memorial Hospital again now at 11pm. They told us to be there at 7am so my wife can be sent home by 830am the following morning.

My daughter and i arrived at 7am. They again did not want to let me and my Daughter into the hospital to see my wife. I finally had to make a stink to stay there until they released her. I literally had to state my case that my wife is being sent home and that we shouldnt be there long according to the OR nurse staff from the night before. We waited around for 4 hours. The doctor did not arrive until 11am. He again was rude, condescending, and a jerk to me and my wife all over again. He told me that he came to the surgical waiting room, that he didn't see us, so he went home. I asked him why he didn't call us...he responded, "It was late and I wanted to get home,"

It was at this point that I had to control myself extensively. I was excited to never have to see this jerk again, and we could be on our way. Little did I know that was not the case.

We got to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions to find that the anti-biotics are the most expensive one they carry. $400 for one prescription. So I called them doctors office to have someone contact him to get him to write a different prescription.

AT 5pm, He called me back at my number and asked me what was wrong, and I told him that $400 for an anti-biotic is crazy, and that Azithromyacin or Amoxicillin are dirt cheap. Can he please call my pharmacy and and change the prescription? He agreed and asked what pharmacy we use. I told him the pharmacy and the location. He then got short with me and demanded that I find him the phone number. I again, bit my tongue and I pulled the number off my cell phone from google. I gave him the number and he told me it would be taken care of.

At 10pm, I went back to the pharmacy. There was no prescription there except the $400 one. I said there must be a mistake. They had no prescription. I then called then office for the doctor, and they connected me to the Doctor again. This time he started yelling at me saying, "YOU DONT HAVE THE PRESCRIPTION BECAUSE YOU GAVE ME THE WRONG NUMBER. I HAD TO LOOK UP THE NUMBER MYSELF, AND I SPOKE WITH THE PHARMACIST."

I asked him whom he had spoken with? What pharamcy? What location? What number did her call?

He then got loud with me again, "DO YOU REALIZE WHAT TIME IT IS?"

Its about this time that I lost my cool with this idiot. I asked him, "You are ***king kidding me, right? Who do you think you are to treat people this way? Who do you think you are to treat a patient this way? Could you not have easily just picked up the phone and called me if there was a problem with number I gave you, or with getting us the prescription within a timely manner? Who ***T in your cereal that you have decided to be so ***king unprofessional with my wife and I? How dare you Sir!

It was at this point that he hung up on me.

Well Doctor Morris Balfour, you sir are unprofessional, rude, discourteous, and if you dont want to be disturbed in the evening to do your job....STOP BEING AN ON-CALL PHYSICIAN AND RETIRE! Whatever your problem is, get over it!
