Saying that this dental office is not transparent about their billing practices is a very charitable way of saying that they are scammers. I went for a checkup and Dr Dierenfield gave me a horror story about my teeth scaring me into giving up my credit card to pay for a treatment plan that would cost thousands of dollars. A day later I came to my senses and called his office to ask for the service codes to check with my insurance company about the 'co-pays' that I was charged. Gabby, the office manager became really annoyed with me, told me that I 'wouldn't understand' and that if I continued to ask questions that I 'might need to go to another office'. She finally, very begrudgingly, gave me the service codes. After speaking with my insurance company, I found out that what Dr Dierenfield had outlined in my treatment plan was not even covered by my insurance company, so the 'copay' that I was charged was bogus. He wanted to use porcelain fillings which my insurance company would not cover and charged me a 'co-pay' of $450 for each filling. He did not even give me the option of having composite fillings for which my insurance company would cover and my co-pay would have been $64. A HUGE difference. I do understand that composite fillings are not as good as porcelain fillings, but he didn't even give me the option, and then, Gabby, his office manager worked up a fake document that showed how much I would have to pay for the porcelain fillings and what my insurance company would pay, which I found out later was not true, because my insurance company does not even cover porcelain fillings.

I did go to the root canal specialist that he referred me to and had root canal therapy there. Dr Patmore, the root canal specialist did a very good job and put in a composite filling for me, which I am happy with.

I still need to have some fillings replaced, so Dr Patmore recommended another dentist. I will not go back to Dr Dierenfield. I will have the work done at a dental office with integrity. Dierenfield and his staff can not be trusted to have my best interest in mind.
