As I do every new Doctor I am referred to, I always go onto my laptop and I check the reviews before my appointments. I must say, I had almost canceled my appointment with Dr. Pruett, because of the reviews in regards to his receptionist. I called other root canal specialist in the Redding area, and to my surprise the earliest I could have been seen was over a month away. My experience; my appointment was scheduled for 12:50. Beings I haven't been to this office yet, as any other new office there is usually a lot of paper work to be done. I was 15 minutes early for this reason. The office was dark and smelled of food( may I add, food that smelled very awful) the "Receptionist" came out of what I'm assuming was the brake room. With a foul look on her face, she did not smile, or greet me. She stood at the edge of the front counter, pointed to a clip board and instructed me to fill out the paper work sitting on top of the counter, and informed me that I was 15 minutes early( yes, I know I was as I had said there is usually a lot of paperwork to fill out, beings I haven't been to this office) I took the clip board and proceeded to sit down and get to filling out my paperwork , as I did this a girl from the back wearing scrubs was walking up to the front desk. She had a huge smile, said hi how are you and made small talk for a few minutes and proceeded to do what she was doing. As she got up to go return to the back, she smiled again and said if you need any help I'm right around the corner and that she'd get me seated when I was finished with my paper work. I thought to myself , why wasn't the receptionist that pleasant. She is the 1st impression a person gets when you enter the office. As I'm finishing up the receptionist returns says " give me that and I need a copy of your drivers license, I ask my drivers license ? And why do you need that? She says for insurance purposes and to make sure I am who I say I am. I do not have insurance. I pay out of pocket. Instead of disputing this I hand her my license a copy is made and am told to go sit back down and a assistant will be out to get me. The same girl comes out calls my name and as I am walking, I glance over at the receptionist and she is giving the assistant a nasty look and tells her, not vey nice, here's her paperwork. The assistant still smiling get the paperwork says thank you and the receptionist rolls her eyes and gives another nasty look to the assistant. She didn't say your welcome or smile. It would've been understandable if she had been on phone or helping another patient but she wasn't . My root canal was a breeze I was very comfortable at ease and had a massaging chair. I thought it was going to be a long horrible painful experience but was quite the opposit. It took around 40 minutes and was asked several times if I was ok and if I needed anything. The returning to check out at front office was not the same treatment I had received in the back of office. Again not once did I see a smile. She asked how I was going to pay took my money, tossed the receipt in the upper counter told me to take a pill that had been up on the counter, handed me a piece of paper that was instructions for after. She did not say thank you to me have a nice day. I was uncomfortable and I feel I was treated very poorly by the receptionist. I had thought that the other people writing reviews had just caught her on a bad day but I experienced it first hand and I had also seen her treat the next person that had appointment after me the same way. I hope I can help the next person that reads reviews, if it wasn't for the professional, friendly, nice staff in the back I would have to give this office a rating of -0.

I was also very satisfied with Dr.Pruett and his assistant. And my experience sounds the same with the front office. Besides the unfriendliness the receptionist was on the phone and didn't care that I was standing there, I do not mind waiting, except the conversation sounded like a personal call. I assume simply because she was talking crap about the assistants. which was how incompetent, lazy, annoying, and that they shouldn't laugh, this is what got me, they shouldn't enjoy themselves while at work because that annoys the receptionist. I very much enjoyed the cheerfulness that his girls put out. If there was a pleasant receptionist I would high recommend Dr. Pruett I can not send my family, friends, or acquaintances to a office that patients will be subjected to such unprofessional treatment from a receptionist .
