Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Losing both of my parents has been the greatest challenge I have faced in my life. I lost my father to metastatic lung cancer when I was 8 years old and my mother to metastatic breast cancer when I was 19. The loss of my parents at a young age, particularly my mother since she was my last living parent, has allowed me to develop passion and empathy for helping others who are suffering. This goal of helping others is what led me to the medical field. What I want my patients to know about me: Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience. Chronic pain has a way of eroding at our quality of life.
